Melancholy Fall
I’ve lived in Arizona for almost a year, experiencing every ‘season’ this state has to offer and I’m slowly coming to realize that the art of layering will be lost to me forever. Or as long as we live on the West Coast.
K and I moved here from Virginia last October and boy was it a shock. We had left the cool, crisp weather of the East and arrived in the tropics (or so it seemed).
As the ‘seasons’ came and went I was ecstatic to know that I would never need a winter coat again! But as the weather starts to cool down (not really) I’m wanting to pull out my layering materials (cardies, blazers, pattern tights, etc.) and prepare myself for the Fall, that ironically isn’t going to arrive until late November/early December. This makes me sad. I love the Fall and all the outfit possibilities it brings. The colors, the smells, the feeling that everything is changing around you. Unfortunately, Arizona doesn’t really experience this change.
This outfit reminds me of Fall. All I’m missing is a mustard colored cardie (which I own) and swap the espadrilles for brown booties and I’m set. So I might just be able to have a Fall of my own. I will have to make due and come up with my own variation of a Fall season. Do you live in a season-less state? If so, how do you cope?
