Wardrobe Remix Vol.8

For the eighth edition of the Wardrobe Remix I thought it was high time to share the three ways I’ve remixed this Phillip Lim for Target animal print skirt. It’s the cat’s pajamas, y’all. I wanted to style it up a couple more times before rounding these up into one grand post but I neither have the patience nor the brain power to conjure up more ways to style this stunner up. I’ve found that when I put these posts together it gives me a better sense of how I should style it up in the future; in fact I’ve got a couple ideas in mind;)

[fun takes on animal print under $15, under $25, under $25, under $45]

I’ve paired this skirt with brights, neutrals, and of course with prints! What will be next? I guess you’ll have to wait and see!

Casual Cat

photo IMG_5603_zpsa21a2897.jpg

The last time I wore this skirt I paired it with a cobalt sweater and went all matchy-matchy. This time around I wanted to go down a more casual path and paired it with a slouchy white tee. I think I prefer this look. It’s comfy, it’s cozy and it feels more ME. And yes, I am sporting yet another tassel necklace. This one is different from the one’s I’ve previously worn on the blog, as it’s chunkier than those I’ve sported in the past and it’s silver. I figured I needed a silver one to complete my collection and this one is probably my favorite. I anticipate a lot of wear out of this one.

Also, this is yet another look from 2013. I finally took outfit photos for 2014 this past weekend and I’m warning you now: the look is kind of awesome. Stay tuned!

I had my eye on this 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target skirt since the lookbook was made available online, and like many others was counting down the days for when the collection was offered at my local Target. On that fantastic Sunday I leisurely made my way to Target in hopes of finding this skirt along with the much coveted Pashi-inspired handbag line. While I missed my chance to snatch up one of the bags I was fortunate enough to get my hands on this skirt. Can I say I’m in love because I am! I adore the fun interpretation on animal print, and both the silhouette and length are perfect for this new post-pregnancy body I’m still adjusting to. I can’t wait to style it up for a more casual look or pair it with my navy blazer for another office appropriate outfit!

The ‘WOW’ Factor

 photo IMG_4129_zpseb6a712f.jpg

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: it’s becoming really difficult to dress myself. Let me rephrase that statement: it’s becoming extremely tough to bring the ‘WOW’ factor in my daily outfits. This in turn is making it very problematic to be a source of inspiration here on FabAve. With a limited wardrobe and the strict shopping ban put in to effect (as of this weekend) getting dressed has develop into something I loathe. Now that’s not to say that I need a new item of clothing to seem current or on trend but something new always makes getting dressed more fun, am I right (materialism at its finest)? I really try to bring originality, inspiration, and novelty to each and every outfit I post here on Fabulously Average but my restrictions are just that, restrictions. I think I’ve stated before that this time in my pregnancy is a lot like a 30 for 30 challenge - remixing and re-working a certain collection of pieces to become new ensembles, and I’m realizing now that I’m just going to have to deal. So enjoy this mediocre look of a classic pairing of red and animal print. At least you can never go wrong with that combo;)

Thanks for visiting, friends!
