Audrey

Photobucket

Can I just say I felt oh so Audrey in this London Times!?! A bit of glamour, a touch of romance, and homage to a classic beauty. Oh the magic of an LBD. I love how this dress can be the perfect holiday showstopper, while also being flexible enough for any evening affair.

On another note, my in-laws come in to town today and I’m uber excited! I’ve been lucky enough to have been blessed with a fantastic second family and the fact that they’ll be in Arizona for the holidays fills me with joy! Here’s to a week of great restaurants, home-cooked meals around the table and lots of laughs.

I’d like to leave you today with the last of my 2013 style resolutions. Enjoy your weekend and I hope to see you back here on Monday!

     5. I want to feel comfortable enough to wear what I want to wear. Let’s be real, there are days when I wear jeans and a t-shirt and feel utterly guilty about it. Hello, aren’t I supposed to be a style blogger? Well I need to realize that I choose what I wear and I need to own it, no matter what! When did I loose my zeal? Somewhere along the way I started caring too much about what others thought and started dressing for others. Why? I really don’t know but I’m fed up with it and you’ll be seeing that change in 2013. So here’s to a new, stylish New Year;)

50 Shades

Sorry, the title is a bit misleading. No whips or chains here, just a girl and her thoughts. I thought I was really clever for coming up with today’s post title. It’s the little things, my loves. Happy Tuesday!

Drop It Like It’s Hot

Photobucket

The drop waist trend was one I was a little hesitant to try. My logic:if the peplum trend was meant to accentuate hips and focus on a small waist, would the drop waist trend only emphasize those pesky love handles? I wasn’t willing to find out but luckily the lovely ladies over at London Times sent me this darling little number and I’m quite smitten, to say the least! I adore the houndstooth print and anticipate a lot of wear out of this dress during the cooler months. The drop waist is something I’m still on the fence about but I do like the school girl vibe it exudes, especially paired with a denim collar. This was the perfect outfit for a chilly Monday but next time I’ll have to consider tights, brr!

I Heart Trends

Like many pieces before it (infamous Zara heels, anyone? over exposed Old Navy cargo vest?) the ‘heart’ sweater is this season’s blogger must-have item. While J.Crew released its version a couple seasons back, retailers for the more recession-conscious fashionista have debuted adaptations of their own. This Old Navy version was one I had been coveting, so when I saw it on sale it was as if fate had stepped in and granted my wish! I love that it’s a nod to the graphic sweater trend, and the ¾ length sleeves are perfect for Arizona’s mild winters. Wearability my friends, wearability.

Although I’d love to take credit for the styling of this ensemble, I believe one should give credit where credit is due. Both Miss Lacey (A Lacey Perspective) and Miss Krystal (This Time Tomorrow) paired heart sweaters with florals, so this is my recreation of their genius . What? Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery:) Oh, and check out how Cathy of Poor Little It Girl paired it with polka dots!

On a more serious note, thoughts and prayers go out to those on the East Coast experiencing the wrath of hurricane Sandy. Please stay safe!
