Shine

photo IMG_5263_zpsa9ee3318.jpg

I love that a great dress can be an easy ensemble all on its own. Take this Gap fleece pleated dress – for its debut on the blog I wanted to keep the look simple enough to let the dress shine and I think I successful accomplished my task. I can’t wait to throw a blazer over it for a morning where I’m running late, or to pair it with a cozy sweater, tights, and boots for a crisp fall weekend.

How would you style up this dress?

Mix and Match

IMG_3026.jpg

You know when you envision an ensemble and after putting it together you realize it doesn’t work? Yeah, that’s a tragic moment but fortunately for me this outfit didn’t fall victim to the for mentioned scenario. After getting this vintage dress altered to fit my taste I instantly knew how I would go about styling it. Print mixing isn’t for the faint of heart and if you’ve been following along for a while then you are well aware that I’ve become a print mixing fiend (seen here, here and here). There’s something about mixing and matching prints that gives me a rush! Dots, stripes and florals, oh my!

Get the Look: Dress/Vintage (altered) [similar] (last worn here), Cardigan/H&M [similar], Scarf/Karen Kane, Booties/Sole Society [similar], Bag/TJ Maxx [similar], Bracelets/Neon – Christina M Boutique (c/o), Purple – CrazyandCo. (c/o), Red – InPink, Lipstick/CoverGirl - Hot

Currently Craving: Karen Kane

While Currently Craving posts are typically aimed at providing cost effective, money saving stores, e-commerce sites and businesses sometimes a girl needs luxury items. These luxury items aren’t always budget friendly and sometime create a dent in our bank accounts that we all try to avoid. However investment pieces that run the test of time are necessary for any recessionista. For that reason today I’m eager to bring you one of the stores I’ve been coveting lately, Karen Kane. Karen Kane is a boutique that has crept up in many of the blogs that I admire. She carries fun, quality pieces that are made for longevity. While the price tag is a little too high for me to frequently shop at, I am willing set aside some funds to splurge on the sleeveless stripe top below!

Do you have any favorite pieces?

SHOP: 1. stripe top 2. geometric tank 3. pink shorts 4. stripe maxi 5. LBD 6. sequin tank 7. jeggings

In the Trenches

This trench vest is a recent acquisition from Forever21. It was part of a mini-shopping spree I allowed myself to have for my birthday. I’ve been on the hunt for a trench vest for FOREVER, so when I spotted this classic gem I just had to snatch her up. And I’m pretty proud of her because she already has gigs lined up for the summer days to come. Something about a trench adds a little bit of polish to an otherwise bohemian outfit, as seen here.

And don’t you just love my scarf! It’s light and airy and absolutely perfect for the Arizona dry heat. I love Karen Kane because of the quality of her pieces, such well made items and lush materials! I scored this pretty scarf at the Arizona Blogger Conference. It was in our swag bag, along with other goodie. I’m totally lusting over many of the KK new arrivals right now and have to resist going on an all out spending craze. The power of being broke, I guess.

Like my scarf, this Big Buddha clutch was also a freebie. I won it through a giveaway hosted on the Go Chic or Go Home blogger community site. Are you familiar with the GCOGH? As the creators, Cynthia and Robert Brown, like to put it, it’s “Facebook meets Pinterest for personal fashion.” I totally suggest you head on over to the GCOGH site and submit your e-mail address via the invite request! You won’t regret it!
