Just Peachy

There’s nothing a pair of peach pants, stripes and a little bling won’t cure.

Happy Thursday my fabulously, but definitely not average, friends!

Peplum Party

Peplum is totally having a moment as one of the must-try trends of the season. However I wasn’t entirely convinced of the hip enhancing trend to start with. Why? Because what female in her right mind wants to draw attention to her child barring hips, not this girl! But as a personal style blogger I thought it was only appropriate for me to try the trend and then report back. Not willing to shell out the money for a trend I wasn’t completely on board with, I decided to head to my local Marshall’s to see if they had any peplum tops for me to review. Boy was I in luck! I found this polka dotted number hanging in my size and couldn’t resist the $12.99 price tag! What a steal! While I might not be entirely persuaded, I am a big fan of the silhouette that this look offers - a nod to old Hollywood glamour, don’t you think?

What are your thoughts on the peplum trend? Are you on board?

The Usual Suspects

The last time I wore these floral printed pants, I styled them up real nice with a stripped button up and my favorite ankle strap wedges. This time around I wanted to tone things down a notch and paired them with a simple linen top (fitting for the 109° weather we had yesterday) and my new favorite T-strap wedges from Blowfish Shoes. I’m totally loving the end result! I might just be kicking that lack of inspiration feeling to the curb. I guess it’s just a matter of analyzing what you’ve already got stocked in your closet and reworking the usual combinations. And yes, these are the puppies that I had on my birthday wish list. I decided I deserved a little something for making it to 27 in one piece.

P.S. The title of this post is a nod to a colt favorite;)

Looking for Inspiration

Happy Monday my loves! I hope everyone had a good weekend. Mine was actually more jam packed that I had originally anticipated but in a good way. After I spent last week sick, again, I was ready to kick my sickness to the curb! Gym, yoga, a full round of golf? Very jam packed and active indeed, just the way I like it;)

But enough about my trivial accomplishments, on to the ensemble! I wore this outfit Saturday night to a BBQ. It was easy, mildly edgy and I’m diggin’ the color combo for a warm summer night. I’m actually surprised that I even styled an outfit that I could be proud of after not feeling inspired with what I’ve got hanging in my closet. Lately I’ve been really uninspired with my wardrobe, which has led me to consider doing a 30 for 30 remix challenge round these parts. You know, to spice things up! The only thing stopping me is a future vacay that could drag the challenge beyond 30 days but I’m still thinking about it. Anyone out there needing a jolt of inspiration and willing to take on the challenge with me? Do connect with me if you’re interested!

In the Trenches

This trench vest is a recent acquisition from Forever21. It was part of a mini-shopping spree I allowed myself to have for my birthday. I’ve been on the hunt for a trench vest for FOREVER, so when I spotted this classic gem I just had to snatch her up. And I’m pretty proud of her because she already has gigs lined up for the summer days to come. Something about a trench adds a little bit of polish to an otherwise bohemian outfit, as seen here.

And don’t you just love my scarf! It’s light and airy and absolutely perfect for the Arizona dry heat. I love Karen Kane because of the quality of her pieces, such well made items and lush materials! I scored this pretty scarf at the Arizona Blogger Conference. It was in our swag bag, along with other goodie. I’m totally lusting over many of the KK new arrivals right now and have to resist going on an all out spending craze. The power of being broke, I guess.

Like my scarf, this Big Buddha clutch was also a freebie. I won it through a giveaway hosted on the Go Chic or Go Home blogger community site. Are you familiar with the GCOGH? As the creators, Cynthia and Robert Brown, like to put it, it’s “Facebook meets Pinterest for personal fashion.” I totally suggest you head on over to the GCOGH site and submit your e-mail address via the invite request! You won’t regret it!

Pink!

I wore this ensemble yesterday for brunch with the fella. It was the first time in days that I had taken time to actually dress myself and style a cohesive outfit. The days prior I’d been home, desperately staying awake and caring for our new puppy, Phoebe. She’s a cryer and doesn’t like the kennel, so I slept a total of 6 hours this weekend. Let’s just say it was a very long couple of days.

Anyhoo, these skinnies are actually pink but the color seems to not have translated in these photos. Boo!

The Classics

There’s something about warmer weather that has me longing for crisp white tops, simple striped skirts and comfy peep toe Mary Jane’s. An easy, work appropriate look great for the office. I’ve apparently been on a whites kick lately, and I’m totally fine with it. Happy Hump day my lovelies!

It’s My Party and I’ll Wear What I Want To!

Welcome back my loves! If you’re new ‘round these parts, thanks for stopping by! Now sit down and stay awhile. I wore this ensemble to my Cinco de Mayo/birthday party this past weekend. Since everyone was forcibly coming together to celebrate my existence, I wanted to look mildly special without looking like I tried too hard. This linen dress is a recent purchase from H&M and when I saw it I knew it would be a wonderful addition to my summer whites collection. From there I worked in accents of red, for a festive flair, and added a statement necklace to finish the look.

Unintentional

It’s funny how the outfits you put no thought behind sometimes end up being your favorites. Exhibit A: this here ensemble. Because I had last week’s posts planned and accounted for I didn’t intend on getting gussied up enough to take outfit shots. I wore this dress, fully aware that no photos would be taken but something about the way it made me feel- easy, carefree, giddy-coaxed me to document it. And you know what, it photographed quite nicely and I believe the giddiness behind these shots. I felt awesome all day! Why I’ve only worn this dress once after finding it at Target for a mere $7 is beyond me but I’m happy we’re reacquainted. The hat was added as the fella and I were heading out the door for dinner. It was the cherry on top, if you ask me!

Color Wheel

Hello friends and happy Friday! This outfit might look familiar and that’s because I wore it to the Arizona Blogger Conference (ABC12) a couple days back. To read my recap on the event, click here.

When I was contemplating the perfect ensemble for the conference I knew I wanted to incorporate a ton of color and have a mixture of textures and patterns. I spotted this vintage skirt at the GrowOp last week and was instantly hypnotized by the fun, spunky colors and the beautiful silk material. The fact that it was a wee bit too tight around the waist was no biggie, as I’ve dealt with much worse. I just knew that I would build my ABC12 ensemble around it. From there I found this hippy-esq lace crop top (summer staple!) at H&M and decided to create a peplum effect with a belt. Lastly, I added comfy wedges and a statement necklace to finish off the look.

Should I have gone with a more toned down outfit? Thoughts?
