Awkward

Late last week I realized that I really didn’t post any outfit posts. I’m really sorry but I do hope you enjoyed the non-outfit related posts I did provide for your reading pleasure. Anyways, on Thursday I was determined to get some photos taken and had an errand to run after work, so I was on a time crunch. My mission? Somehow in all the madness and traffic I had to rush home before the sun went down. So what did I do? I pulled over in an abandoned, dark ally and busted out the tripod.

I stood there posing with an awkward smile, as the collage kids in the apartment complex behind the ally stared during the entire session. Oh, and there was commentary. All I was able to make out was:

Kid 1: “Is she some kind of model or something?”

Kid 2: “No she doesn’t look like a model.”

Kid 1: “You’re right, she’s not that pretty.”

Thanks kids, for the discreet boost of confidence. Yes, that’s sarcasm.

Man, I feel like a Woman

Today’s look is on loan from Kendi via Kendi Everyday. Oh so cute and comfortable, I absolutely love this outfit! I fell in love with this look and just had to replicate. The casualness and the femininity are such classics. Kendi always seems to pull off girly outfits without looking like she put any effort. Jealous!

On Me: Converse Button-Up: Target, Pleated Skirt: Forever21, Jessica Simpson Wedges: DSW

On Kendi: Button-up: Anthro, Skirt: c/o Lulu’s, Bag: Gift, Shoes: c/o Payless

Did you follow my journey through my first 30 for 30 remix challenge? Well, Kendi is the mastermind behind it all so stay tuned to her blog for an update on the Fall remix if you’d like to join!

Vintage Vixen

Today’s muse would have to be the one and only Jessica Quirk of What I Wore. Now, this style maven doesn’t only live and breathe fashion but she also just came out with a personal style book: What I Wore: Four Seaseon, One Closet, Endless Recipes for Personal Style, which I’m thinking of picking up soon. I love her retro inspired outfits and had to replicate this iconic look. The pleats, the stripes, the color, I love it all!

On Me: Jean Jacket: LVLX, Tube Top: Rue21, Sunnies: Thrifted, Pleated Skirt: Asos, Wedges: Payless

On Jessica: Shirt: St. James c/o Madewell, Skirt: Zara, Shoes: House of Harlow, Watch: Timex, Sunnies: Fred Flare

Side note: I want to give special thanks to Sara from Farpitzs fo the skirt suggestion!
