Adult Fun

 photo IMG_7105_zpsb52bf7de.jpg

This past weekend the fella and I enjoyed a much needed day date. Since Grandma is in town for the summer, she was kind enough to babysit Remy while Kevin and I met up with friends (who also have a little one and don’t get out much either) and attended the Great Indoor Beer & Wine Festival. Adult fun at its best, my friends! We had such a great time taste testing all the craft beers and wines and it felt so nice to partake in adult conversation without the interruption of a cute little ‘hi’. Although I did miss that little voice. We proceeded to enjoy a drunken dinner at Denny (so much fried food), followed by hittin’ the movies to catch a showing of Sex Tape. So funny!

How did you enjoy your weekend?

Well I hope everyone enjoyed their 3-day weekend! This girl right here sure did and I’m so sad to see it end but this next weekend is going to be epic as we will be celebrating Remy’s first birthday! I’ve got quite the week ahead of me, lots of cleaning, last minute planning and organizing still needs to get done. But let’s discuss the outfit, shall we?

I wore this little number for dinner with the family on Saturday. I wanted something easy but with a little spunk and if print mixing doesn’t do the trick, I don’t know what does y’all. I kept the colors in the same wheelhouse, as not to garner too many stares from restaurant goers not equipped with the knowledge of what is print mixing. I still got some stares but at least I thought I looked cute, right?

Happy Monday friends!

Mom Approved

You can never really go wrong with stripes. In my opinion stripes look great on just about anyone, especially when worn in the right silhouette. A semi-fitted t-shirt dress is a style I think flatters several body types, as it’s a little more forgiving than a body-con dress but not quite as roomy as a swing dress. This one from Target (purchased just before the shopping ban) has become a wardrobe workhorse. I’ve already worn it countless times and seem to always go for the mom approved pairing of dress + flat sandals look. On this particular day I went with a little print mixing (highly suggest smaller pairings like this for those nervous to try the trend) and threw on this denim GAP goodness that I scored for $5.70 at the thrift store. Now this jacket was purchased after the shopping ban but there isn’t any way I’m passing up a GAP denim jacket that fits my like a glove! In other news, my GAP dark wash denim jacket is up in my Poshmark closet. What? One in, one out!

P.S. Love how Megan of Chasing Davies styled an almost identical look!

So this past weekend I attempted a closet purge. Attempted - operative word, my friends. While I didn’t legitimately get much done, I did manage to establish what pieces in my closet had to stay. This Phillip Lim for Target skirt was one of those ‘keep’ pieces. I just can’t part with an item that I’m able to remix countless ways. I just can’t. Especially when it’s such a statement piece! I might not wear this skirt as often as other pieces in my closet, but I sure as hell love it as much as I do my wardrobe work horses.
