The Classics

There’s something about warmer weather that has me longing for crisp white tops, simple striped skirts and comfy peep toe Mary Jane’s. An easy, work appropriate look great for the office. I’ve apparently been on a whites kick lately, and I’m totally fine with it. Happy Hump day my lovelies!

Fake It Till You Make It

One of the main messages I hope to spread through this blog is that you don’t need to spend a million bucks to look like a million bucks. Not all of us won the lottery this past weekend and we are in fact in a recession, so budget conscious shopping is a must. For that reason I love stores like Forever21 and Target. They offer on-trend pieces at low, affordable prices! Although they mass produce everything they sell, their products are up for interpretation and personal flair. Take this outfit for instance. Not too many lablels but I love this pairing and feel so put together in it. What made me feel even better was the fact that I got this vintage tweed skirt while thrift shopping in Austin during TxSC(link). Yep, for a mere $8.99 the skirt was mine!

What stores/online shops do you like to shop at that offer their merchandise for the everyday recessionista?

Nautical Nonsense

A nautical, yet office appropriate outfit for your viewing pleasure! The nonsense part would have to be my shopping habits as of late. It’s gotten a little out of control. I tend to shop to pass the time (lunch breaks, after work, Saturday mornings) or when I ‘think’ I should have an item my fellow blogger has. Yeah, both are really stupid reasons, the ladder being absolutely ridiculous. I need to get my priorities straight, that’s for sure. Through FabAve, I’ve wanted to convey the message that you don’t have to have brand names to be fabulous. And  I hope that message still rings true. But with the amount of shopping I’ve done in the last two months, I’m a little disgusted with myself. And to make matters worse, I don’t even have the money I’m spending.

I’ve declared strict shopping diets before on the blog (and in life) but this time I have to actually cut myself off. Cold turkey. If I want to save money to landscape the backyard, finish decorating the house or take fun vacations with the fella, I need to make this sacrifice. I need to quit justifying purchase for the good of the blog and quit fooling myself. So no more shopping for me, at least for now. I’ll reconsider things and review my bank account closer to my birthday, which is a little over a month away. So I’ll live vicariously through my blogger friends and sift through my closet as if it were my favorite store;)

*I hope I didn’t offend anyone with this post. If you do have the money to shop and buy expensive brands, enjoy it. I’m just broke and cannot.

Style Struck

We are all well aware of my obsession with stripes and I’ve confirmed my passion for a good pair of ankle strap wedges before too. So my new fascination for printed pants should come as no surprise. This is a trend that I’ve been fiending over for quite sometime now (most recent declaration of love here), so when I finally tracked down these H&M floral beauties I purchased without hesitation. In the past couple of weeks I’ve (secretly) grown my party pants collection at rapid speed. So spring and summer won’t be dull ‘round these parts, believe you me.

Other things I’ve secretly stocked up on: lipstick, nail polish and French fries.

[TxSC] A Little Rain, A Little Posh

What do you wear when you know that you’re going to be surround by bloggers that love clothes as much as you do? Oh, and you have to take into consideration that it’s raining outside. Apparently stripes, faux leather, an abundance of jewelry and the mandatory rain boots. I wore this outfit on Saturday during my time in Austin for the Texas Style Blogger Conference. The day was spent thrifting with thrift experts Jessie, Jentine and Elissa and taking advantage of an awesome discount from Langford Market on the 2nd Street district.

I’ve also included a few snap shots from the posh party hosted by Poshmark that took place later that night. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get decent outfit shots but these will have to do. And yes, that Jen of Jen Loves Kev right behind me;)

Taste the Rainbow

Never underestimate the power that a splash of color could bring to your mood on a Monday morning. This dress- it did the trick to cure the Monday morning blues and helped lift my spirits throughout the entire day. I’ve never been one to shy away from color but this dress was a bit of a challenge. Was I to add more color or keep things neutral? As you can tell by the styling I went with both options. Why not, it’s my blog- my style!

On another note, are there any questions you have for me? I want to dedicate a couple posts specifically for reader questions; whether you’re wondering where I like to shop, what mascara I use, what size shoes I wear, where I went to college? Ask anything you’d like and I’ll answer! Feel free to leave a comment below or shoot me an email if you’re on the shyer side. I will not divulge any reader information, unless otherwise stated. Happy Tuesday my loves!

Obsessed

Today’s outfit is brought to you by the sponsors of STRIPES! Ok, ok, I think you get my point, might’ve gone overboard with my obsession. Stripes on stripes is not a new concept for me (seen here) but something about this combination seems fresh and unique. Maybe it’s the different size stripes on the skirt or the color of the green against the ivory or maybe I got dressed in the dark and didn’t review my ensemble with a clear mind. Either way I’m diggin’ this look. Blair Waldorf meets a J.Crew, no?

In Living Color

Happy Monday my loves! I hope you all had a great and fun filled weekend. Mine was quite boring but there’s always next weekend, right? I wore this ensemble yesterday for brunch, errand running and dinner with friends.

Something I did do this weekend was set up a Facebook page for FabAve! About time, I know. Feel free to stop by and ‘Like’ the page. I would love any additional support you could offer!

Oh, and stay tuned for a possible giveaway this week (hint, hint).

Red Hot

So I’m going to keep this week semi-consistent and have more Disney outfit photos. However, like yesterday these pics aren’t quite as refined as my usual posts but whatev’s we all have off weeks. This outfit was worn on our first night in FL. The gang got together to celebrate one of the groomsmen’s birthdays and the reunion of all of us in the same room. It was quite the night of debauchery but without further adieu:

Poncho

When: January 4, 2012

If a year ago you would have told me that I would one day wear a poncho, I would’ve poncho-ed you in the face. Heck, if you would have told me two weeks ago, you would’ve gotten the same reaction. The poncho/cape look has been everywhere- from high end collections, to the runways, to the blogs of the everyday fashionista. But to be honest, it’s not my favorite trend. Helloo, it’s a poncho; what’s fashionable about that? But I was curious. Apparently curious enough to buy a poncho (at an excellent price of course). And you want to know a secret, I don’t hate it.  So now I own a poncho and any sense of style cred I had on the blogger streets has flown out the window.

Easy Peasy

When: December 18, 2011

Happy Monday friends! I hope y’all had a good weekend. Mine was rather productive, which is a change from my usual lounge fest. I wore this outfit yesterday for church, a grocery run and a fun Ikea trip with the hubby. Something easy is always ideal for a day full of errands. And this ensemble fit the bill.

What is your ideal errand running outfit? Is there a particular piece you must have on?
